Caravan is a Nazarene Bible-based scouting program for children ages 4 through 6th grade. Caravan uses an active, hands-on learning approach to help children grow physically, socially, mentally and spiritually (Luke 2:52). Caravan focuses on teaching everyday skills with a distinctly Christian focus. Several special activities occur during the year and children have the opportunity to earn many badges as they participate on a weekly basis in the program. Children become members of one of the three major groups based on their age: Searchers (1st/2nd graders); Explorers (3rd/4th graders); or Adventurers (5th/6th graders). Each group is under the direction of one or more adult Guides.
Benson is a red, English-style, pretend double-decker bus that escorts young kids on weekly trips as they discover the shopping mall, the zoo, the farm, school, and many other places. Benson’s Buddies are children four-to-six-year-olds and not yet in first grade. Benson’s Buddies teaches children about the world in which they live and lays the foundation for Christian living. They also meet on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year. Benson’s Buddies introduces young kids to many social settings that exist in their cities, communities, and the world. A major goal of Benson’s Buddies is to foster Christian character and lifestyle. This program also introduces preschoolers to the form and ceremonies of the Caravan program. Children learn an official pledge, motto, and receive awards based on their participation in the lessons.
